Landscapes of the (Un)known

Lockdown

During the last couple of weeks of the exhibition by Lou Hazelwood the world went into hibernation due to the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic. At BasementArtsProject we decided that this would not stop our programme and moved online.

We decided that we would open out up online Studio Journal, usually reserved for those exhibiting at BasementArtsProject, to any artist who wanted to talk about what they were doing during the lockdown.

Artists chose to submit posts in many different formats and looking at many different subjects. Some posted work whilst others talked about their locked down lives. A few weeks turned into almost a year and half before we were finally allowed back in each others company. Over this time we had more than fifty posts by more than twenty-five artists. Projects ran from diary entries, sound art, films and galleries of drawings, paintings & photography as well as two 3D virtual environments: one of which was our tenth anniversary project with Kimbal Bumstead.

What follows are links to the specific posts in lieu of a real-world programme.
