LOCKDOWN JOURNAL: COVID-19.5 (Obie Butcher)

Obie Butcher takes his inspiration from the natural world and has created a range of sculptures using many materials. He began sculpture by learning to wood carve before moving on to marble carving whilst living in Spain.

More recently he has begun to create multi media pieces taking inspiration from life forms found in the deep sea and by imagining extra terrestrial life forms. He also enjoys larger scale willow sculptures which form a part of his job as a Forest School Leader.

Although predominantly a sculptor he also uses ink to create almost biological illustrations of imagined creatures usually of insect form.
